Chiromassage

Chiromassage

The term “quiromassage” comes from the union of the Greek word “quiros”, which means “hands”, and “massage”, whose origin is confusing, since it can have several possible origins, such as, for example, from the Greek word “massien”, which means “to knead or rub” or from the Sanskrit term “makeh”, which means “to press gently”. Therefore, literally “quiromassage” would mean “massage with the hands”.

At Natural Therapies we offer different types of massages depending on their purpose or origin.

Sports massage

By having a massage regularly, the athlete will reduce their fatigue more quickly, preventing injuries and, if they occur, speeding up their recovery. The need for sports massage should be understood as part of the training of the person who practices sports daily or very frequently, since the importance of anticipating possible discomfort that may occur should be clear.

At the muscular level, muscle overload, fibrosity and/or contractures can occur. At the tendon level, tendonitis can occur and at the ligament level, sprains of varying degrees can occur. All of these circumstances affect not only sports performance, but also daily life activities and a decrease in the person's quality of life.

Sports massage is therefore different from therapeutic massage, in that the former is aimed at preventing injuries and is usually more intense and deeper. It incorporates a combination of compression, friction, stretching, toning and advanced Shiatsu and pressure techniques.

Sports massage has different purposes

Sports massage

Maintenance

performing a regularly scheduled massage focused on the muscles used in a particular sport and that are most likely to cause problems to help the athlete maintain or improve muscle movement and flexibility.

Pre-competition

basado en las necesidades del deportista y el deporte, y pudiendo ser relajante o estimulante, es usado como calentamiento previo a la competición, teniendo como finalidad aumentar la circulación y reducir la tensión muscular y mental antes de la prueba.

Post-competition

It aims to reduce muscle spasms and the metabolic increase that occurs with rigorous exercise. This type of sports massage helps the athlete in the recovery process from the effort made to return to training or a new competition, reducing the risk of injury.

Rehabilitation

Even though we try to prevent injuries, we often suffer from overloads, cramps, contractures or tears that cause pain and prevent us from continuing training or competing. This sports massage accelerates the healing process, reducing pain and providing new solutions during the rehabilitation process.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu

Shiatsu or acupressure is a manual therapy originating in Japan, recognized by the Japanese Ministry of Health, and is a collection of various traditional techniques, but unlike other therapies, only the palm of the hands and thumbs are used. This therapy is also characterized by the fact that the patient is clothed at all times and no oils are used to carry out the treatment.

It allows us to reestablish and maintain the energetic, physiological, mental and emotional balance of our body, promoting healing processes and increasing body awareness of both the recipient and the practitioner, as well as helping to calm the nervous system, disperse toxins, relax muscles and revitalize the entire body. All this makes it very effective for babies and children.

Tuina

Tuina is a branch of traditional Chinese medicine that uses massage as a therapeutic tool. Tuina uses rhythmic compression along the body's energy channels (meridians), as well as a variety of techniques that manipulate and lubricate the joints. By applying Tuina therapeutic massage, we achieve effects from outside the body on the inside, thus restoring the psycho-physical-energetic balance that we call Health. At the same time, Tuina effectively responds to two important medicinal objectives of any technique that claims to be effective: "prevention and treatment."

Tuina helps treat many soft tissue injury disorders and many other types of ailments such as:

o Improves blood and energy circulation.

o Improves the elimination of toxins within the muscles.

o Harmonizes the dispersion of vital energy in the body.

o Tuina rectifies anatomical abnormalities of the inner and outer surfaces by altering the energy level of the biological system, and adjusts the bio-information of the organism

Thai Massage

These are stretches, with yoga-like postures and oxygenating pressure (with the whole body: hand, elbow, knees, feet, etc.). The pressure and digitopressure applied in the massage reactivate the venous and lymphatic circuits, thus performing an effective "unwinding" action on the muscles, providing a significant improvement in the connective tissue and draining retained fluids.

Stretching and mobilization also relax the muscles and optimize joint movements and posture. Muscle stretching makes the tendons work better on the joints and bone junctions, thus promoting calcium absorption.

Masaje Hawaiano o Lomi Lomi

Hawaiian massage or Lomi Lomi

Lomilomi, originally from Hawaii, gently runs over the entire body with the forearms, arms and palms of the hands to the rhythm of Hawaiian music playing in the background. It is used to eliminate tension and relieve muscle contractures, but it also harmonizes the entire body and relaxes the mind. The relaxing lomi-lomi massage is also combined with aromatherapy and music therapy.

Deep relaxation is the sensation that people who try the lomi-lomi massage most highlight, but it is also indicated for preventing and curing certain injuries. A wise global work on the body, thanks to a studied mix of deep movements and rhythmic and fluid pressures through the fingers, hands, forearms and elbows of the professional.

Ancestral Hawaiian techniques are used, very similar to certain movements of osteopathy and chiropractic; they seek to stimulate those points of greatest muscular and emotional tension.

However, this type of therapy also has a strong relaxing component, which is achieved through the ancient Huna philosophy. Its proponents claim that it is possible to connect internal energy with universal energy, thus achieving a connection between body, nature and the universe. Lomi-Lomi massage is seen from a holistic perspective, since it understands the body not as the sum of its parts, but as a global whole in which the optimal balance must be found between the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects. That is, if, for example, one has a problem of muscle overload due to stress, this will immediately affect the psychological aspect and the flow of energy.

This massage is based on acupressure, digitopressure or acupressure and relaxing maneuvers. It is applied by the therapist with fingers, hands, elbows and forearms directly on the patient over his or her clothes, with the patient fully dressed and comfortably seated in the ergonomic chair specially designed for this type of massage.

Techniques derived from Traditional Thai Massage and Chinese therapeutic Tui Na are performed, with a highly elaborate sequence of points, lines and maneuvers that are carried out very technically to produce a fatigue-relieving, muscle-relaxing, stress-relieving and, consequently, relaxing effect on the patient. Pressure is applied to the palms, fingers, elbows and forearms on acupuncture points and meridians, as well as stretching, compression and rubbing to disperse muscle tension.

Chair massage covers the areas of the head, neck, shoulders, back, waist, hips, arms and hands, although the legs can also be kneaded occasionally.

Some of the benefits of this massage:

  • Eliminate all types of tension.

  • Fight neck, shoulder and back pain…

  • Reactivate blood circulation.

  • Recycle blood and oxygen in the muscles.

  • Production of endorphins, (the best anti-stress).

  • Elimination of toxins in the blood.

  • Increased muscular endurance.

  • Fights insomnia and helps you sleep better.

The most common complaints for a chair massage are back, neck and shoulder pain. The duration of an on-site chair massage is around 30 minutes. Ideal for a take-break or, after finishing work, when moving from one work activity to another… It is a moment to release all the tension and renew the state of well-being and balance necessary to tackle everyday tasks. It is also suitable for people with special circumstances such as pregnant women or the elderly, who feel more comfortable in the positions that the chair offers them.
